Copy & Baste is the YouTube channel of Isaac Rousso, who is on a quest to recreate dishes from his favourite restaurants. Isaac approached me to design him a visual identity that he could extend to his website and YouYube channel. Isaac’s passion project needed a look that conveyed the warmth associated with cooking, mixed in with a subtle Latin American vibe. It needed to be approachable while also looking polished. The textures selected - Mexican tiles and wall stucco - convey an authentic mood, subtly alluding to other traditions of working with your hands, which is inherent to cooking. The drop icon became the cornerstone of the identity, tying in the slogan with the visuals. The typography was also carefully selected to compliment the curves of the drop icon and continue the curvilinear look.
